Mario,

I know I am going to tick some off by saying this but I hate cats. However, this has to be the best shot of a cat I have ever seen! The colors of the fur and nose are great. very good detail. Grreat choice in cropping!
It takes quite a bit for me to even stop and look at a cat picture, and you got me to comment on it too! (9) would have been a 10 but it's a cat

John,

Thanks for comment on my shot. And yes I do like the ilford film, especially for sharp contrast such as the shots i took at the Lincoln Memorial. I would like to comment on your shot here, however what can I say that everyone (especially Marc) didnt say Good job on this. Next time have grandma make some warm pudding before bedtime. Might help you sleep. (8)

Scott,

Hey man don't give up! Come in a little closer to the blooms. The oak tree in the back ground and the wrought iron fence distract from your blossoms. Try some different angles with just the fence and blossoms and see what happens.
Keep 'em coming!

Heather,

You have stirred something here. When I go to zoos, I try my damndest to keep the cages out of the shots. You have shown a different side here. Great Job!

Dawn,

You are right about your shot. You are learning, self critiquing. The composition is really great! Seeing the freight train coming through the pass as the sun was peaking through the mountains, great timing. Keep 'em coming. You are showing improvement, and a desire to learn.

Dawn,

Don't give up on this print yet. if you do not have access to a darkroom, find someone who does and experiment with this shot. do a little dodging and burning. you might be suprised with what you get.

Dawn,

I really like the composition of this shot. especially the three holding hands. The lighting has thrown a monky wrench in to the mixture for you though. It appears the shot was a taken on a bright sunny day, with your daughter having light colored clothes on. against the dark shade of the inside of the background. Maybe you should have stopped it down a couple of more stops to compensate for the subject matter and let the background fall where it falls.
That way you could have the detail int your daughter instead of the far background.

Scott,

I like the way you set this one up. I wish you had titled it different, such as gone fishin' or something cliche'. Great colors with the sunrise/set in the background. Good job all around. (8)

M.,

Yes there is beauty in the color of flowers, although there is a beauty in the flower itself that the colr does not show. I feel you have done a pretty good job capturing this. The delicate petals swaying in the wind, and reaching for the sun. Very good tones and lighting. Keep 'em coming!

Kim,

I agree, this looks like a water color from the impressionisism period. (Monet, Renoir, etc) Very good. It ihas a very calming effect to the shot. I love the colors you were able to capture here. the pastels are great. Very good work. (9)

Dave,

Very nice shot! The colors and the long exposure work well. Hell this is nature! You shoot what you find. If I spent that kinda money on a camera, I couldn't afford a chain saw. Again Nice shot, too bad we had to put up with such a diatribe from someone else interputing your meaning. Keep 'em coming!

Wallace,

I apologize. I am proud of my son, as you are yours. Tell him good luck and congratulate him when he gets that tan beret. I'm an old fireman now, and I have come to enjoy life so much. When I went to Benning for my son's graduation, I felt proud but still had an errie feeling that I can't explain, Sorta like the old song, woo whats that smell, smell of death all around you. I only hope and pray they do not have to see the things we saw.

Wallace,

Details details details. ranger? Where is his ranger tab? Where is the unit/mos insignia on the beret? And what self respecting ranger would be caught without a high and tight? I would believe model but not ranger. He doesnt have that look of death to him. Wallace your too good to pass this off as a ranger. I'm sorry if I seem bitter, my son leave for the mid east soon. I know what the look of the ranger is.

Dawn,

Nice shot. I think I would prefer if it were just a fuzz softer. The lighting on the petals seem a little hard. You might try some warming filters to help with this, also try for a shallower dof to give a softer feel to the flower. Keep up the good work.

Darrin,

Very nice I too like the effect of the blur of the grass making it look like a painting. However the thing that really stood out to me was the one buff at the top in the middle, turning around and looking back, his eye. The catch light in the animals eye. Makes me wonder what the animal is going to do next? Good job!

Rebecca,

Nice to see an ol' chevy in that condition. Nice to see you too in the chrome! I wish you had not crop it so tight on the right and the top, get the full effect of the tail light and the chrome that way. Course I 'm kinda partial to the old cars myself, keep 'em coming!
