Thanks, Shirley. As you are aware, birds are our living dinosaurs. More than any other, I find the GBH in flight reminds me of a Pterodactyl. You will see when I post some high flying examples.

The fly has now been identified by BugGuide as Anthomyiidae (Root-Maggot Flies) - pluvialis.

Oh I wouldent worry about wearing out you welcome.

Thank you, Paul! I think the blue on blue is so cool! For some reason, the light quality really brought out blue tones in the plumage, when the herons were flying low among the trees. I have more of this bird in his fly by - differing wing positions and backgrounds.

Thank you, Shirley. With old planes, it is possible to show prop motion to convince the mind that the object is not just pasted onto the sky and defying gravity. I'm a little afraid that the bird may seem to look that way,'though.

Thank you, Paul! I see that you have maintained your presence and activity on usefilm/imageopolis. I felt I could not keep it up and found it far too easy not to resume once imagopolis restarted things. It seems that Shirley may have "invited" me back. I have such a backlog of images to work on and hope I don't wear out my welcome! ;)
