This is one of the photos I promised myself I would come back to comment on. Very different from the green, bosky woods of Devon! Harsh landscape and harsh (well-handled) contrast, but a beautiful rendering of the goatherd and his delilghtful dog.

A human image with impact - no gimmicks, just straight forward image filtered with a beautiful tone. Excellent photography Tony?? I?m happy this is in the front page as more people will take in the lyricism? I love the two... ;-)

Congrats, C.

Thank you Moe and everyone else for commenting on this photo I'm glad you all enjoyed it.The Photo of the day Award came as a very pleasant surprise and I'll let this shepherd know about it when his granddaughter comes for her English class with me this evening-She'll be amazed!!Having spent many hours out with him and his flock I've got to know him a little and he doesn't seem to be sad but extremely happy with a way of life which he began at a very early age.

Hello, Tony. I haven't seen one of your posts in a long time, but I thought of you when I saw the thumbnail. What a great situational portrait, full of character and life. I envy the dog .
