i guess i'm too late with the advice here, since your assignement date passed, but here is a couple of suggestions: use a longer lens or zoom value if the lens is fixed, somewhere around 80 mm is about right for portraits. a wider lens distorts the face and makes the nose look bigger than it really is. And focus on the eyes, since they always attract the.. well, the eye. That may be tricky when taking a self portrait. that's about all! cheers, slava.

I actually love the soft lighting/ low contrast look of this shot, which only goes to show that personal tastes play a large role in our view of art. I think we all agree that this is a very beautiful photo though. Great job. :-)

I like this self portrait. The only thing I would do is maybe a touch more contrast. But other than that, it's pretty good.
