"Still with the dew drops." These dew drops create tension and texture in the photo. Don't let anyone talk you out of the dew drops. Besides making the photograph more interesting, they contribute to the special array of colors and amplify the light on the leaves back in a glistening way. Bravo!

I like the original shot very much!! This is about what I had in mind with my comment. The drops don't stand out quite as well as in your posted shot, but the grass and other aspects ground the leaf beautifully and it certainly stands out! Perhaps I'd try framing the leaf a bit more to the corner for what perhaps might be a interesting composition, though I expect also that you shot it this way with the crop you did in mind, which was excellent as always. I think given this beautiful original I'd have been tempted to post them both! By the way, the lighting and colors in this are wonderful!

Ina, it's a wonderous study of the water forms on the autumn colored leaves, so great idea that only the true artist can come with... (proceed to next)

Great capture Ina. I like the way this is the only leaf that has the drops on it. I love the way you capture so much detail in the drops. Excellent image. Cheers - Ann :)

Thanks Mark for your comment! This particular leaf was shot fairly close - about 5 shots. I am attaching the version that has the most background, all the others are pretty close to my square crop, because I had the diagonal & square crop in mind. Here you can see the actual surroundings, especially the nice colors (less PS). BTW, I didn't touch any of the leaves, there were so many, there was no need to arrange them - not that I wouldn't do it, or consider this some kind of a badge of honor, because I don't, I believe in post processing all my pics. I stopped shooting more droplets only because it was late in the afternoon, and the light was getting too low. When you include the surroundings, you get people who tell you to crop it, and take the grass out! LOL, so I cropped it myself, to eliminate the green and the twig. See attached:

Colors are beautifully complimentary and the color and lighting difference between the primary leaf and the background highlights it stongly. I would almost like to see a slightly larger background with the primary leaf dominating just a bit less, perhaps set slightly toward the top right corner. I say this because the lighter color, stunning dew drops, light, and detail draw your focus so very strongly as to rob the primary leaf's color of a background context. It would be interesting to see how it looked as a dominant highlight rather than the whole show. Does this make sense or am I starting to ramble? :-) In any case, the impact of the drops themselves would be less in that setting, which might not be what you want, and whatever else, that would make it an entirely different shot altogether.
Whatever else, this is more great work you have here Ina!

Hi Jeanette, that's exactly what I wanted to do with the colors, make it look like a painting, get the colors of a 17th century Dutch still life, which I'm very fond of. I wasn't really interested in getting a good "macro" - since there are so many good macros on this site, much better quality and magnification than these!

This is my favorite - since it has a better tonality and the water drops has a better info in the light parts. Nice desaturated colours, which make me think of a painting and the diagonal composition are good - as i would have done :))
