Hi again, Corrie- yes, I was born in Kansas- ElDorado to be exact. My family (for generations) was in the Peabody area- very small town east of Newton on 50. It will always be home to us- we were there in July to bury my father. Still lots of relatives there- we go up often. I looked up the Marysville area- a little further north and east than my area. Still a wonderful place in the heart of America! Can't wait to see more of your photos from "home"!!!
Im in kansas now kay....its BALMY!!! Warm weather for november if you ask me, even for kansas. So far some beautiful sunsets, all my family's old barns and outhouses, yes, silos, and quite a few chickens! All my family lives here, so quite a bit of portraiture as well. My grandparents are having their 50th anniversery, and for the party my uncle hired the band 'the homestead pickers"(they perform regularly at silver dollar city in branson missouri).Wow, i think that was the best party ive ever been to! (and yes, i took a LOT of pictures, id upload now except i shoot film, and have no scanner with me...this is my first access to the internet since ive left). Where were you born in kansas? Curious. My family is all from north central kansas, washington, marysville area. We moved to canada when i was younger, but i spent a lot of summers on my grandparents farm. Its sad, every year i go back, there are fewer buildings, and my favorite abanodoned houses are slowly disappearing too. Im trying to capture as many images as possible before it all dissapears. Even if its only for my own peace of mind.
I'll be home in a few days, and will be posting soon! Love from Kansas, corrie
Hey- enjoy Kansas- my birthplace! A beautiful place to go... you will get lots of pix of bare fields and silos and pigs and cows....not much else this time of year! Have fun!
Hi Corrie, First of all thanks for your comment in the forum. I appreciate it..wasn't sure if I was off base or not...didn't think so! This is a great image! I love the dark blue of the sky and the taupey colors in the corn. Nice comp and framing too. You have a very nice portfolio. I'd like to keep an eye on it. Have a great time in Kansas...I'll mark you as an associate so I can catch up when you get back. See yaF
