I really like your series Rare View. I think this is one of my favorites. The boy's expression is beautiful, you captured the perfect moment of this prayer. Without the boy this picture would pretty standard. The choice for B&w is the best choice. I think photojournalism works best in B&w. Maybe if it was taken from an even lower angle it would look even better, than the boy would stand out even more. The walls are bit bright, maybe some PS could help with that.

Good luck with your exhibition. A series worth exhibiting.

Regards Boy

Hi Femke

Don't say sorry it great to have someone give an honest response ....... I appreciate it.

The contrast is a bit much the wall is a flat white so there is no detail to be had. The black is the night through a window. I could crop it a bit but until I do a final edit I will leave it as is.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Take care
Mark

Hi Manu

Thanks for the thoughts. I thought about a similar crop but at this stage will leave it as is though this may change. Removing the window certainly makes the image cleaner.

As for the contrast it is tweaked a bit but the wall is a flat smooth white so there is no detail to be had though I confess a bit of detail on the seat against the right side of the wall would be desireable.

Well noticed Mark....good idea. Couple of things though...the contrast seems a little too much losing some of the detail and maybe a different crop might add more impact.

Here's a very rough idea...?

Cheers

Manu

You raise a good point about the window to the right femke though personally I see no problem with all the white.
This is important photography Mark. Congrats. Worthy of the project.

In spite of the comments of others I don't think this one is good. I understand you made this picture but the wall behind the kneeling people is too white and I don't understand the black part at the left of the wall. Perhaps you can still do something with your whitebalance in PS which will make the picure better. Sorry Femke
