This is my favourite of this foggy series. My first thought was "crop @ the bottom" - but that would interact with the branches? beautiful reflections. So I dont find any nitpick, this time. Exposition, colors and tones, composition - excellent !
Cheers

Thanks Ina - I often add a thin frame around the image. I find that on usefilm's white background it is a good way to contain the image if it has light areas around the edges.

Hi Stefan, I actually like this one better than the second one. This one has more mood, a different mood, not a dark one but nonetheless! The branches add much interest to the scene. Very well composed. You seem to leave a tiny black edge around the picture, looks like one pixel, that's a nice way to finish it. Or is my screen?

One can imagine your delight at this scene -- would have been going nuts with the camera. You really captured a gorgeous landscape here. Oh how I love the fog settling over the water and the wonderful density of the color. Very clear. Bravo!

Hi Becky - it is truly a pleasure to receive comments from you. Detailed insights that also are well written... I thought the colors were pretty well matched but sort of see what you mean about the upper and lower left corners. Cheers -S.

Actually, I like this photo much more than "Sunrise". In Sunrise, the composition is great and I like the perfect exposure of the fog and the hint of detail on the shore, but the lack of detail in the hill pulls me out of the photo . . . I find that empty black space a touch overwhelming.
In THIS photo, the fog may not be as goldenymagical, but I like how the photo is exposed to catch detail in everything, especially the hill, which is beautifully lit with fall foliage. The branch in the foreground works well for added interest and depth and I like the various colour tones of the water. Perhaps you could try lassoing that "edited" selection of sky in the top left corner and give it a little colour tweak so it matches the peach/orange tone in the water on the lower left. That, or blue it up a bit.
Anyway, I agree the fog is a unifying theme between the three pictures, but I kinda think it looks different/has a different personality in each one.

Okay Thilo - didn't really shoot this specifically for a project, but I certainly was out looking for a moody landscape so I'll put it in bin #42.

Hi Stefan,
WTH! wow, this one is the winner. why no project? the reflections and the color rock the scene. the format is also well chosen. you've done everything right here.

Not up to par with the others? Hardly - I think I like this one the best! The tinge of pink in the lifting fog and the slight blush of color on the hillside are fantastic! The dead branch in the foreground is a good foil for the hills, and gives the eye something to hang onto in the water! :) Nice job, Stefan!

Good I wonder how much the sense of shadow on the clouds top left help so much here.

This is my clear favorite in your series of three, Stefan. The branches as a compositional element are spectacular. It brings a stark textural contrast to all the softness elsewhere in the image and creates a great focus and anchor point for the eye. Positioning of the branch in the frame is flawless in the compositional sense. Also gorgeous colors with the strong blues, but also nice counterpoints in the trees and sky. This is a wonderful image!! Bravo!

This has to be early in the morning and if it had been here it had been sooooo cold! I like how the sun hit the thin clouds (been mist?) and the tree?s.

too bad i've got no foggy picture except for this... here in verona there's enough fog... maybe too much to make some decent photo!
