Great concept and well rendered... I am a tad worried abut the legs from the knees down.. their disappearance into the black is a tad too far from reality and whilst I know that this images has been created from multiple realities (i.e. images ) I find that area needs more work to enable the image to fly as much as it deserves to. Having said that? oh wise and bearded know all that I am!! I am yet to try something this ambitious. I think that self portraiture is enormously challenging and so many artists fail at it I have done many and the following is my artists statement from an exhibition which had memory as its them I submitted amongst other works a series of self portraits made over the period of time that the gallery it was being exhibited in had been open it was the closing exhibition called Do You Remember, I feel it summarises my feelings around the SP. "Which brings me to my third question of memory...examination is a process we all venture to, in private mostly where we silently admit to a stunned reflection that time is marking us in its tread. The process of recording by the artist of what is going on in the mind as well as what is wearing away from the surface, is as old as image making, far be it for me in an exhibition which distils the memory of what used to be, to ignore that vast and endless traditional ground of invention.." great work Maris.
