Have to love that horizontal beak. So much is good about this photo--the back lighting and exposure, the composition, the focus, the colour... It's a great telephoto shot! Can't do THAT with a mobile phone. [grin]

This is much better Stuart! Removing the bright spot has transformed this image. The eye is now drawn and held by the subject with no distracting background items. The details on the bird are superb, especially the ruffled feathers on the back of the head.
A simple but dramatic improvement!!!

I like the detail and softness of the feathers, especially the white backlit tuft. The face is most intriguing -- this guy sure knows how to hold a stare. :-)
