Hi, Sandra! Spirit houses are kept outside - the idea is to keep the spirits in the right place, I believe. There are little platforms on which to place images of Buddha (or other 'deities'), burn candles and joss sticks, and place flowers: these are often in the corner of a room in a raised position. (Especially found in shops and businesses.)

Greeting Len, I love your series on the spirit houses. Each house is so unique and special, I hope to place one in my garden, Because of your series I have done a bit of research on them, The details of the wooden one's are beautiful and i am afraid that my winter climate would ruin them. do people they every keep them inside?
