Hey Sheila, Yes, I'm glad you left his head to the side, I think the suggested crop without the foot (even though I didn't know what it was either) lost a lot of character from the original post. Removing the space on the outer edge of the pole successfully turned all attention to him, and retained the "goodness" of the background (I'm obviously not feeling very articulate, sorry :P). In my opinion that one is "the one". Good work!!

Hi again, Sheila I definitly like this crop better, and I think I like Susie's even better. I like the idea of leaving his foot in, but in the b&w it's hard to tell what it is. It sounds like you're enjoying your classes. Ours start tonight. I hope to learn LOTS. Of course, when you start from the very bottom there is certainly LOTS to learn :) If only my brain can comprehend!!! Kathy

Thanks for your help Susie! I liked your crop and agree with you about it being busy behind him. I kind of liked him being a little bit more off to the side as opposed to too centered. I cropped it again and attached it to Nadia's reply. What do you think?
Did you start your class yet? I started my Dark Room class last night. I will be shooting black and white for the next few weeks I guess.
:)Sheila

Thanks Kathy! I cropped it again and attached it to Nadia's reply. What do you think? I know it's kind of busy, but I just love this shot of him!
Thanks for your help. I always appreciate it! :)Sheila

Thanks for your comments Nadia. I agree that it is a little busy behind him. I was undecided on the cropping, but finally went with what I did mostly because I like the balance (or off-balance) of him to the side of the photo as opposed to more centered. I also decided to keep his little foot in. I cropped it again and attached it here. What do you think?
Thanks for your help! Sheila

Nice Sheila. The focus is very good and the b/w just great. I think I might consider cropping out about a 1/4 on the left, but just my opinion. (I've always got 2 cents to throw in!) I had a try at it...hope you don't mind. I think it draws more attention to her face. Nice post!

You sure got good eye focus on this one Sheila! I agree with Nadia that there is a bit too much distraction in the background. Some of that could be taken care of with a different crop I think. It's very cute, anyway! Kathy

Lovely portrait! There are some distracting objects, but these help create the feeling I think the baby has when in the pram: a big world full of interesting things above and around it that it can't wait to tackle! Nice focus, a bit dark for me. Great work!
Regards, Nadia
