Alison, your descrition and critique of this photo touches me dearly. When I took the photo I felt the same feelings you described. I felt like I was creeping and in a different surreal world ( I had to be sneaky). I am so pleased that the photo actually captured those feelings and that someone recognized them. Nice capture, Jim! I like the way you've included the vegetation in the foreground to give us an idea of the habitat. If they're anything like our herons, you did well to get this close!
