It seems to me the removal of color causes us to concentrate more on all those rectangular shapes and rows of windows. And then all that geometry is broken up by the curvy boat sail. It's really an intriguing composition. Nice work.

Thanks for the tips,Paul!....yes,your version does seem more defined...i have never used layers and only adjusted in paintshop's b/w points...i don't have the paintshop pro8 book,so just use it minimally for contrast level, conversion to B/W,desats or other saturation adjustments...have been practicing with gamma control for color and curves...need to look for the book on ebay ;>

Nice, looks like they added some buildings since I was there last (or it's taken from the other side or something) .You should do a Space Needle study, get a lot of nice angles...... Very well done, Mark

So beautiful photo of the city, Gayle! and a beautiful city as well... :-) Some great buildings... The sail tells that it?s possible, howhever, to have a calm and restful time in the big city. :-)
I liked the suggestion from Paul, and could learn from it too. :-)

Hugs,
Márcia.

Lovely shot of the city, Gayle! I like Paul's version, too - gives it a little more depth.

Nice angle, Gayle, but your white levels are too low. Bringing them up, however, causes the prominent sail to over-expose. The answer is to create a second layer, adjust levels...and then erase the over-exposed sail to reveal the properly-exposed version!

Here's what I'm yakkin' about...

Very good portrayel of this city. It is well composed and the tones are very good as is the detail.

One of the places I would like to visit. One of the many :)

Ciprian

I absolutely love this view of Seattle, Gayle. It's majestic. The boat also adds to the depth. Grat shot. The tonality, contrast and sharpness are striking.

Best of luck to you in your photography and all your struggles againt injustice. Keep your sense of humor too.

Regards

Love the understated tones, and the slightly underexposed feel... so much more depth and rich detail by presenting this skyline in this manner. You have a great eye, Gayle!

p.s....if you're drinking a lot, can you pee pierside, too??

Nice view Gayle. This is how most people think Seattle looks...gray! We know it is beautiful...hence the name Emerald City. I think this is a nice skyline...your details are really good.
