Hallo Martin - USM = UnSharp Mask in Photoshop. It's quite a smart (in fact, very smart) less unsubtle means of sharpening!

The W, the D, and the two NOT's - Fantastic how the light brings out the crisp texture. The knots look like a feather, and the nails form their own intersecting line. Just beautiful.
