About Decided to get artsy with this shot just for fun...the message is so strong and it works in B/W,too,but just wanted to do something different

what do you think of the use of noise and desat of the color,or the focus of image subject?

Tracey, thanks for the feedback...guess i should have made it more clear in my about that i was imposing my own artistic vision on this image of mine and not presenting it as "media ready" for publication in the strict sense....i like the faded retro look of it because it could have been shot back in the day when i marched in DC...

Love the grain, and the painterly look of this Gayle, the desaturation is perfect here...nice diagonal in your composition, and a lovely, creative, artistic rendition...love it...:):)Linda

artsy and journalism don't work! grain only works with B&W in journalism ~ Don't undermine your shot.... nice the way you shot it!

I like it, Gayle. The noise makes it seem like it could have been shot during an earler period in our history when we were also divided over war.

The desaturation works as well.
Pass the flame.

hi,yes,i wish the dof was min. in original shot, too, but it is a sharp focused shot and just didn't like the higher contrast when looked at the original...shot in lower light outside,so not sure i can adjust for a good B/W...thanks for feedback,Kl...oh yeah, this is cropped from orig. framed in-camera shot because i liked the emphasis on the younger man's hand extending to light the older man's candle...

Just my opinion...

The subject of the image is so simple and strong, I really want it to be in sharp focus, with the dof limited for the background. I don't think I'm going for the noise, but the desaturation is nice. However, I think I'd also like it in b/w.

Nice work!
