ohhhhhhhhhh Giulianoooooo - I have tried a new combination this weekend. I made three rolls of Tri-X 400 with the Holga on a bright sunny day. with a shutter speed of 1/100th that is maybe 2 stops overexposure. I mixed ID11 at 1:3 and developed for 15 min 30 sec. I agitated the tank only every 45 seconds (not 30 seconds). OMG the results are absolutely AMAZING!!!! I have a series from these rolls of film that I will start posting very soon.

eh sì, caro Giuliano! Soprattutto durante vacanze piovose come queste e soprattutto in Toscana! A presto!

Ciao GiuGiu,

Devo decidermi a sperimentare l'id11...

Yes, I see what you mean. If the contrast seems a little too low you can always use a more contrasty grade of paper. I agree that this a really good "look." When I get my 6 x 6 SLR I may experiment with it myself... (Until I saw this portrait, I was planning to use C41 and convert from colour to B&W. I get good results doing this, but nothing like this look, which I love.)

Hello Roger,
Tri-x is a good film but all the time I exposed it at 400 asa I usually had high ligh overexposed
(i.e. http://www.usefilm.com/image/670144.html ... but I developed it in HC110 ).
This is a really good combination!

Bye

Giuliano

I think Bryan Miller's specs gave you a long range of grey tones and good sharpness without any obvious edge effects. I can also see why you kept the contrast low. The out-of-focus blur is very soft and natural. A great lens! And a great portrait!!

I like your composition here Giuliano - with the super blurry face closest to the viewer ad the man with his piercing gaze - MOLTO BENE!!!!
