About As a frequent shooter on the streets, I must say I'm often irritated at the current attitudes toward photography. People have been scared into thinking I'm taking photos to "case da joint" to come back and rob/bomb/gas/terrorize it later on.

People, it is art.
It is journalism.
A century isn't enough time to get used to it?

This was shot at 10th & Fig, downtown Los Angeles. The patrolman and three detectives looked mighty stressed to see me snapping away. Breakfast was calling at The Pantry, just to to the left, so I never found out what the incident was.

Paul, I know the feeling. We are doing a group talent shoot in downtown SA this Saturday and in order to not draw unwanted attention (these days you need a permit to breathe down there)we are breaking into small groups and shooting very early (7 photogs & 12 to 14 models) We will shoot in small groups for about 30 minutes and then meet back, switch up, and keep shooting. Hope the local law leaves us alone!

Nice shot, by the way.

Your analogy is bringing tears my eyes, Brian, as I realize the truth to those words. Thank you for illuminating this gradual, but chartable, slide downward.

Control came little, by little....like a small child who grows slowly to those who see him everyday, but to the long lost aunt, she sees him after a two year absence and says, "Oh my goodness he's getting so big"! So went the true balance of freedom that we once took for granted and enjoyed. Little by little, these freedoms are shrinking while the child grows and begins to issue the orders and the mandates...

Paul the officers should have been checking out the guy on the bike with a backpack...anyway it became a sad day when no one noticed we lost our freedoms it came like a thief in the night only our eyes were wide open and all we do is whisper...

...there's always one in every crowd...there goes Lori again baggin' on my homeboys...not one to get tangled up in pettiness (after all, I got some rims that need shinin') but if I recall WE never had a shameful resigned ex - President walking our beaches IN FULL SUIT AND TIE with his dog Checkers or whatever....not saying that's a neg but.....BAhahahahahaha....... :~> (David Bowie- "Do you remember? Your President Nixon? Do you remember? The Bills you had to pay for only Yesterday? - "Young Americans")........ all done in the friendliest of jest amongst friends :~>

Nice shot and very good commentary. The situation is very irritating and disappointing. The bad guys have succeeded brilliantly in screwing things up.

Yeah, they didn't question me because I was with three other people, and it looks like they were quite busy working something.

Hmmmm...did you get a 'model release' before you put this on the Internet? (LOL)

Well...geezzzz, it's Los Angeles, that guy off to the right looks like he's ready to clobber you, along with the cop!

Great shot, nice and clear. LOVE IT!

Have a GR8 evening,

...Dear Paul, if you recall one would get the same reaction in Eastern Europe under the communists, back in the day. Don't know what it all means but it's all good as long as we're being protected....and I KNOW we are cause I feel safe.....Nice Shot but kinda propagandaish IMHO - Long Live the King (of Denmark of course) !!! (they say one gets more conservative as one gets older)

Hi Paul,
Great shot, especially the suspicious, testy looks from the guys on the LAPD. Perhaps they were frustrated trying to figure out how to spell Figueroa?
I love this photo, perfect timing, focus, composition and content. B)
