I have been waiting to comment on the older ones and I saw that I was getting closer and closer to them. No names but this one will be a little heart breaker as well. She looks so nice and relaxed here with yet another variation of the shooting angles you still use. Wonderful!

Well my little sweetie I shall 'see' you again soon. LHKVBW....Me

I have looked at Jan's work and it is simply beautiful! Thanks for the tips, I'll have to play around with different methods.
Thank you, David for your time and help!

Hi Janet,

There are a couple of way to convert to B&W. I tried may ways and found the channel mixer woks best for me. But other people create very good results with different methods. So I guess its not a technique that is better than the other, but rather what people are most comfortable with and letting them do it the way they like it.

The channel editor basically gives me three B&W version of the image and by using the sliders I can mix the three version together the way I like the look. Then I use the curves editor to adjust the contrast, then I usually add some sepia toning.

Take a look at Jan Granger's work http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/82099.html
She uses a very different approach but creates stunning B&W images.

Thank you for all your thoughtful comments, David! You are very kind!! I am partial to b&w images, and appreciate what you did with this one! I have a few other similar shots that I converted, though to me they seem rather dark. How did you convert this one?

very nice portrait. Would work nice in B&W, too. Just playing around here :)

natural light is great light, you used it well.
colors look "right on!" to me.
Like how the brown on the chair kind of frames her and leads you to her eyes.

Great work here, Janet!!! I like the color (very natural), the pose and light.
I also think the chair adds to the portret. It's not too heave or too light.
