Three days after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, the United States exploded a nuclear device over Nagasaki, killing an estimated 74,000 people.
At 11:02 a.m. on Ausust 9, 1945, the explosion of an atomic bomb devastated Nagasaki.
The ferocious heat and blast indiscriminately slaughtered its inhabitants. Even the people who managed to survive continue to this day to suffer from late effects.
Six decades have passed since that day. Now the atomic bomb survivors are advancing into old age and their memories are fading into the mist of history. The question of how to inform young people about the horror of war, the threat of nuclear weapons and the importance of the peace is therefore a matter of passing concern.
The citizens of Nagasaki pray that this miserable experience will never be repeated on Earth. We should also consider it our duty to ensure that the experience is not forgotten but passed on intact to future generations.
It is imperative that we join hands with all peace-loving people around the world and strive together for the realization of lasting world peace.
Well done Lawrence - awsome shot here. Love the IR feel to really play on the about! I wanted you to know I am taking down my "friend list" and adding everyone to my Associates list - I think that long list has stopped me from seeing more photos. Im doing this to all of my list so don't be offended - I will check in on you for sure! I just don't have the time right now but I love your work so I will keep up on you.
Very touching tribute Lawrence; will be ever grow to be beings worth of this Earth? I hope one day we will put aside discrimination of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, language, height, cup size, hair colour, etc and just start behaving like human beings.
