Great shot, there seems to be a path through the rocks and the lack of a horizon lets the eye/mind inquire about the great unknown. The grain gives a sense of fog that just adds to the mystery.
Congrats on making the front page!

yeah, the vignetting and noise really give this a retro feel. I'm always a fan of high contrast imagery, Gayle, and this is pretty nice.

I like your treatment of this Gayle, the vignetting is very nice, I get a sci-fi feeling from the walk into the open space...and wonder what will be on the other side. This is very interesting for sure...wow I think of Darwin, and evolution and can see the concept here of something that is evolving...very clever and brilliantly done...:):)Linda

Works great I believe. I like the fact the horizon is washed away. I find both looking at 'dawn of photography'-pics and modern treatments in that vein very interesting - I think because it reminds me that the medium may be more about deficencies than it is about perfections (or, even worse, "reality").
Babble, babble. Murky intellectual waters. I will now try to paddle my way back to shore :)

I like the look of this Gayle.
It's like a blue print. It's interesting how the centre of the image appears more bleached. it's as if the image is still developing. Perhaps a reference to evoloution and Darwin himself.

Primordial. I like that. It has the feeling of how the world must have been just before slimy things started crawling out of the water onto land. Nice title. Nice work.

Must sat it is not my cup of tea Gayle, however I am not sure what you were trying to create, the only way to achieve excellence is to try the impossible.I wonder what it would look like after a good dose of salt and pepper?

Great toning adjusments to emphasize dark and light. The noise adds to the bleak atmosphere and feeling of isolation. Excellent work!

Thanks for comment! not going for look of snow, but going for that primordial look of Darwinism.....lith toning in darkroom removes midtone basically and leaves darker areas with lighter areas...

Very stark and cold looking. The toning is perfect for this, giving it a feeling of remoteness and desolation. Looks very, very cold- brr! I don't know if you were going for the look of snow, but that's what it looks like to me. Very good effects! Carolyn
