Excellent macro of this petal Angelo. I like this one the best from the whole series. I love the bright colors complimented with the fine details and the DOF to blur the top edges adds a bit of depth. Very nicely done.

Two things I love about this version: The fibers of the petal and the fact that the focus is right over them nice and sharp. Second, the positioning of the petal ie the composition. Very good!

Love the composition and the shadow adds a sense of mystery to it, great image!

Guilherme,

Your "tulip petal" serie very creative and impresive work Angelo. Love the fine details, beautiful colors. Very soft tones, well balanced composition. Congrats! Well done!
Best wishes!

A fine addition to this delightful mini-series, Angelo!
The white background and subtle shadow are the perfect setting, IMHO.
Best regards, Chris

Lots of questions, Linda... :)

I got it to stand up like that with a bit of blu-tac (you know, the blue putty-like sticky think you can use to temporarily stick things together) behind the dark part.

The black part is the bit that attaches to the flower head. It went that colour (from green) as it dried.

Ciprian,

The light was just normal daylight coming through a window (actually big window sliding doors facing South).

No flash.

Brenda,

This was shot in my kitchen. I have South-facing sliding doors to my garden and the light is coming through them. (The Shouth-facing bit is important in these Northern lattitudes: that's the general direction the sun shines from, mostly.)

All I did was place the petal on a standard A4 sheet of printer paper. I also used some blu-tac on some of the shots, to keep the thing upright in the position I wanted.

The only other thing you need is a tripod! :)

I realise also that I should have selected a much smaller aperture.

This series has gotten a lot of very good and useful comments. I've learned a lot and, for me, that is its real success.

Thanks for the kind words and support, Brenda.

I really like this one. I think the angle of the shot and the bit of a shadow make a huge difference. It is simple and very beautiful.

It is perfect, keep trying my friend, I already started to like your lens .. and I might consider it for future purchases :)
Your shots are amazing with it, you should use them for advertisement for this lens :)

Angelo -

Suggestion - keep posting revisions, each sucessive shot has been an improvement.

I think that this is a great example of backlighting flowers for maximum effect. I tried it as well, but this clearly blows away my attempts.

You seem to already be shooting long exposures, why not crank up the F-Stop to the top (like F22) and get a razor sharp image with deep focus?

Nope - none at all... this looks pretty damned good to me!

...some would say add a black border - i would say let it bleed into the background - very nicely lit / K

I love how you did this Angelo! I am thinking you did this in a little studio you created? This screams "ART"! Love the lines the colors the colors and the textures here! This is just a gorgeous image! I will wait untill I comment on all in this series before I pick a favorite! But make no mistake, IMO this has to be one of your best series that I have viewed! :)

This is for sure my favorite of tis serie - so far. I love the red colour and the great texture of this dry tulip leaf. The diagonal and resting look alike "pose" are very cool and impressing. A very good work!

(I have some in same kind of "genre" in my portfolio, i think it?s botany play...)

Fantastic detail, excellent still-life; the white background is very effective indeed. What sort of lighting did you use?
