Thanks, Michele, it's the only one of these spirals I've ever captured that I liked. I appreciate your comment . . .

Wonderful perspective. I see you B & W image below and I must say I like the color version you have chosen here better. The light color tones of the wood first at the top gives you a sense of the depth of the staircase with the darker tones of the woods going down. Superb!

Won't tell a soul, George. Once more so typically Paris, no elevator and (sometimes) endless stairs. Very well seen and captured. Thank you for your very kind comment on my "Light for within 3." Best regards, Rafi

George this is a great perspective shot...doesn't look like an easy on to take and you did well, especially on the hush hush...very nicely seen and captured...I like the black and white version too I think it has a kind of elegance to it...very well done...:):)Linda

This is a very nice shot, George. It is framed very harmoniously and the lighting is very nice too. I know its not easy to get this sort of shot well. It looks really nice when you are there looking at it, but somehow its hard to recreate on film. but this one definitley works for me, i think beacause of the feeling of depth... regards, Omar

Where do you guys all find these staircases? Like you, I've tried many times but never succeeded. Well done John - you've got one! (And I like the story of the circumstances in which you got it...) AJ

Thanks, Magnus. I have found several in my visits to Paris, but the light is usually awful. I have many rejects!

I love these staircase-shots but I'm unable to find them myself. This one has all the trademarks of a great one, the dof and the regularity and in this case also the beauty of the staircase itself.

Hi George,
very good perspective shot. such stairs always rock (if well composed). your stairs are special because of the symmetry. perhaps a BW alternative?
best wishes, Thilo

Very good, the architect obviously gave a thought for the photographer even if the owners don't. I like the way the stairs continue to spiral right to the very bottom. The lighting is very special, have you tried converting it to b&w?
