This is our first, but hopefully not last meeting on the pages of "Usefilm, Mr. Jugo and although I never actually set foot in Sarajevo, you'll probably surprised to learn that I'm no total stranger to it. First of all, as a student in Jerusalem I had a girlfriend born in Sarajevo, and much later, in 1988, I drove though it by night-train and met some very interesting people on my way. With one of them, the curator of the Jewish section of the Sarajevo museum, I became quite friendly and until the horrible situation in your city, which I was abhorred to hear, we exchanged books, e mails and letters. I also have several Usefilm friends from Bosnia Herzegovina with whom I mutually exchanged comments on photos. I looked though your portfolio and found some very interesting photo, such as your "Gestarbajter" depicting a social problem we have to deal with here too. I opted to commernt on this photo, the last photo you posted and hence the first one I saw, becuase I liked it as a candid photo, well composed and with peaceful colors. You are, of cours, invited to read my bio and pay futher visits to my portfolio. In the meantime I thank you for your kind comment on my "Faces from Jerusalem 2." Best regards, Dr. Rafael (Rafi for future communications) Springmann
