excellent capture - your "photo noir" version I guess.
To your question with the F828. After shooting for more than 20 years with a F3 I don't like the camera very much either but the advantages of being digital are not to deny. The best thing is that you have a whole equipment incl flash and 28 - 200 mm lenses in one small body. I simply use the P-Mode and set the ISO-value zu 64 and the size to 8 MB, all other settings stay at "normal". Most of the time I make jpegs only if I wish to be able to improve the shot in PS later I make a RAW-shot (which is annoying slowly). I try to control the lighting via metering (centered or spot). The real Achilles' heel of the 828 is the lack of a viewfinder - the monitors display quality is (IMO) to poor to judge a composition. Therefore I normally make 2 or 3 different versions of interesting motifs which is no problem if you have 2 Giga on board. That you allways get 72 dpi is normal - the question is the size, I'd never make shots UNDER the maximum quality-level. I hadn't any problems with the autofocus yet, it works even in a complete darkness (nightshot mode) - so if yours don't work you should complain. There is a new firmware on the Sony-Homepage downloadable which I did - but I didn't see any differences afterwards. I wouldn't buy that camera again - it's just a (good) toy. My next investment will probably be the Canon 1D Mark II. Best wishes from Vienna!

Cheryl, If you can imagine, This was taken two weeks ago at an older area which was very dirty with sea-weed and scarcely visited by swimmers..Mostly Surfers only. I used masking techniques to achieve these tones and mood. Thanks for commenting sweety!

LOVE this - very cool. When was this taken? Feels like winter there (can't imagine any beach abandoned here lately). Love the tone and the framing.

You've certainly got dark and moody down pat and working well. Perhaps it's only because I first saw it in glancing, but that rock (I think?) in the middle first looked like a head to me, with a hat on. Perhaps I shouldn't look at photos right after watching horror movies ;)

Angelo Thanks for commenting..that is exactly the feel I was trying to achieve. I wanted an older-Retro feel to the process here...Anyone can do a simple beach shot but I really wanted to bring some "mood" into this image. I appreciate your time and opinion.. Thanks! Carol
