Outstanding portrait! Nice use of the lighting and I like the strong shadows here...real fitting for the overall feel.
And best wishes for him...my Mom recently lost vision in an eye, too :(

Hi DA - I reckon this is about my absolute fave. It is strong and powerful. The modelling from the contrasty lighting is so fitting for this strong masculine face and those deep shadows are so dramatic - and you've still managed to maintain the perfect amount of detail in that shadowy side, well done. The sidelighting brings out all the texture in his skin - marks of life's journey! The 'contrast' of soft and pretty high key background, against your father's strong powerful face is just superb. 10/10 my friend.

I truly like the side lighting on the face,, the sharpness of the focus on his face and the DoF in the B/ground of the tree to the left and fence adds so much depth to this shot. A very good image DA

I've always been partial to contrasty portraits such as this. The comment on the eye adds an interesting perspective aftwerwards but its definetly not needed. Great drama.
