Exellent colortones and sharpness! The chrome reflections on the fly's body give an extra punch to this macro. Breathtaking !!!

Jim! Wow! This is, without question, best macro I have EVER seen. I'm proud to own the same camera as you! The color, the razor sharpness, the perfect window of DOF. An absolutely superlative work of art. One of my favorites.
My highest compliments.

Talk about hair on the back, I think he might have lice also. :) the clarity of the shot is amazing. What is it standing on with all of the beads of water.? Alison

The camera raw tool in photoshop as well as regular photoshop tools (levels, curves, brightness and contrast etc.). Make the basic adjustments with the camera raw tool and then do my color correcting and sharpening with regular photoshop

What do you use to post process? I have never used Raw but sure looks like the way to go

James Bambery   {K:13421} 6/25/2005
Thanks Jim, yes I do use raw, wouldn't do it any other way. You have so much more control over the post processing process. It's a little hard learning to work with it, but after you do it is just awesome.

I've had bad hair days...but never this good a day taking a picture of a fly! This absolutely fantastic, Jim. The sharpness is incredible. Don't know how you get these little buggers to sit still for you but I think you should hold classes! Regards and thanks for your recent comments, Larry.

Thanks for answer Jim! ;)

Thanks Roberto.

I almost always use a tripod especially when I am using the Extension tube. The DOF is so shallow with the extension tube that it is virtually impossipble to get a clean shot. If I can't get near the little guys without a tripod I stay away from them. Now on butterflies and the bigger insects I will hand hold but not often. It just takes a little getting used to (working with a tripod) but after you do it becomes second nature.

Can't wait till you get your macro lens I know we will all be in for a treat:)

Wow!! You are getting amazing insects macros Jim!
Great work!
Are you using tripod? I don?t like to use it, specialy in macro shots becouse limits my mobility and I still have no patience enough to manage this. I?m excited to buy an macro lens but I?m awaitig little more, not yet money enought :(
Best regards dear friend!
Roberto.
