Thanks Tom,
I learned alot about drag racing on this shoot. At this level it's not about going as fast as you can and that is why you'll see two different types of cars on the track at the same time. The corvette dragster in the far lane probably had a green light a second or two after the stock car. The races are handicapped that way. Also, the drivers dial in a time that they try to hit the finish line in. They are ussualy within thousanths of a second. There is really alot of gamesmanship involved. And alot of technology, (computers and such) It sounds strange but you can cross the line second and still win the race if the other car misses his "dial time"

pat, this one is my favorite of your drag series. i think it's the aspect ratio. it gives the cars room to race if you know what i mean. i like the contrast between the cars as well. two complete different cars racing each other is a bit unusual. and the fact that the "less agressive" looking of the two seems to be winning, gives it that much more interest.
also, i read with much interest the commentary against your use of ps. pay no mind to that. i think those shots look great! i myself am a PS minimalist but i can still appreciate (and enjoy) your skill with that monster program. it's a shame that some cannot. regardless, kudos to you and keep 'em coming!
btw, the nikon didn't break :^) i've actually been shooting although not as much as before. i've just been in a funky mood vis-a-vis posting work. and even commenting. i'm just now getting back into the swing. although, it's hard. you try to help some folks only to be crucified. oh well. maybe it's time to give up the "nice, nice" attitude and really speak my mind. i wonder how that'll go over? ;^) maybe i should make my portfolio CO before i open my mouth and rile up the tree-huggers :^)
take care, tom

Really cool shot - the red cars tires are SOOOO low they look like they are flat. I love the blur on this with the real feeling of motion. Awsome shot.

Nice sense of motion with the blur. You did a good job panning and that isn't always as easy as it looks I'd consider scaling back the framing as it is so large and intricate it competes with the photo.

woow Pat.. an other great blocking, my friend, ltro a great example of as the speed can be stopped! the composition is much particular (for me) the wide cut with an visual one is optimal for the idea of the movement! but nche the speed of the two cars some is similar, equal. the opposition of new the super ones and the old one car! best wishes roby
