Kevin, I think the dreaded Usefilm sharpening bug got you. If you have the dpi of the image set at anything above 72, Usefilm assumes that the image can be compressed a lot more, does this, and then boosts the sharpness "to compensate." The result is often edge artifacts of the kind I simply cannot believe you would have introduced either deliberately OR unknowingly. And yes, I'm sure you're a character, but quite probably a very different one from him! Give him time, though...
