Hi, James!
The place is, say, 150 miles west of Moscow. The nearest town is called Staritsa. I take my time off there sometimes. You can have a peek here at this place: http://test.dinfo.ru/album04 (first 5 pics). There are others but mixed with pictures from different places.

in addition to my last comment, the capture of the water off of the paddle in this very still water is just wonderful. its just one of those places all of us should be lucky enough to see from time to time.... where in russia was this taken? i've been to izhenvsk and perm area and they have this sort of river and lake geography there.... james
