About This framed painting was done by a relative. It depicts an old Malay wooden house surrounded by coconut trees. Such houses still exists today but only in the villages.

Alison, besides allowing the breeze to flow through, the house was built on stilts for three more reasons: 1. to escape the annual flooding as it is on the river bank 2. to keep goats, poultry and even cattle under the house (!) and 3. for children to play while escaping the hot sun.

What a lovely painting, more talent in the family :) I like how you have surrounded the photo with the pale yellow wall which has nice textures. Are The houses built high to allow the breeze to flow through.? Alison
