Very nice composition, Kevin. I like the monochrome, almost high key, effect. Nicely done! Larry

Just replying to Roger. Kevin wouldn't dream of adding an extra ingredient.

Not sure about some of the above comments, do you think it's "hard" and crispy looking?! Harvey

I wonder what was decisive about the moment? It looks as it's been there for years and will be there for years to come. This has the look I have come to associate with desaturated digital B&W images--rather different from film. I'm wondering what it is. I think it maybe the lack of film-like grain and a tendency to over-sharpening (i.e., visible edge effects) which gives a dry, rather "hard" and crispy look. Whatever. Anyway, it suits this image very well.

what a wonderful composition, from the thumbnail i thought it was a huge peice of drift wood on a beach, upon clicking on large, its a stump in a field of beautiful little flowers... wonderful work, i would like to see the clouds in the background built a bit darker, mid levels crushed a bit... but very wonderful work

Good shot - would like to see it even wider, maybe shot from the root ball end.
Was thinking maybe you could look up Fadel J or Patrick Di Fruscia for some interesting perspective shots.
Nice contrast between the stump and the lighter ground and sky.
