Well, I think that I wanted to show that he was still standing with the other graduates while looking back at family and friends but I was not in a good enough spot to get the entire row of grads. I think that he was looking back at them so that he could see the proud looks on their faces.

Nice capture, Green. I like how there is a strong imaginary line connecting the grad with the crowd behind him. Good use of DOF control, to throw the background out.
The inclusion of a partial face on the right is an interesting touch. I wonder what your reaons for that are, and what you think it does for the image.

Thanks Melanie, I always appreciate your comments. I really enjoy using the "wide screen" borders because they give it that cinematic look.

Great DOF! I like the framing. You captured a "moment in time". Nice eye!

Very good "timeless" perspective, but I think the fellow on the far right should be excluded from the framing.

Ahem.. "taken at a recent college graduation". That criticism aside, a very nicely executed photograph. Nobody in this photograph seems to be looking in the same direction. The main subject isn't even looking at the camera at all! Excellent use of DOF. Really well done.
