About Not sure if it is a butterfly or moth. I think it probably is a pest from the farmland and not as good as it looks. I used an SB 800 flash for fill light.

Hi Don...this is a butterfly...a "Painted Lady " to be exact...not sure when you took this but there have been two major migrations this year... March/April and now...since you are farther south than I am I'm assuming it was around the date you uploaded...but wait...are you in NE or Arizona since we're on the first of June?

Superb detail and lighting. I like the blurred background so it does not compete with the intricate patterns in the wing. I especially like how you chose to present the image -- most would "correct" the angle so the butterfly is upright but this is how they move and work flowers over.

Very clear detail and great color, Don. Looks like a moth with makeup.

Very nice sharp macro, Don. I like the composition with the color in the background. I think it is a moth too....if it weren't for the tinge of orange in the wing...donno there are a lot of butterflys out there. I think I know a monarch when I see one. :-) Thanks for your comment on my peony, Larry
