These formation are called drumlins. They located in central New York state. Over tens of thousands of years of glacial movement they were formed when sand, mud, clay, stones and rocks were meshed together. The tallest peaks rise 150 feet above the beach. Because of the danger of climbing these peaks and because they don't support life of any kind, I was unable to show anything to give you an idea of perspective from this angle. Thanks for viewing. WOW ! Amazing shot Brian. I have never heard of drumlins nor seen them before. I love the blue sky and ocean too... Amazing after all this time that no life grows on them .... this is sort of puzzeling. Wonder what holds them together all these years, maybe it's like concrete but even concrete collects moss, and somethings begin to grow. The outline is awesome too. Thanks for teaching me lots of new stuff . Michele~
Thanks for commenting my picture "Central Station. It's very interesting both the picture and the its geological data. I liked the contrast among the "drumlins" and the blue nuances of the sea and sky. . Regards.
I would never have imagined that drumlins (never ever heard of them) would exist anywhere near New York state. Amazing how the landscape of this earth has been formed over thousands of years and how beautifully they color the landscape.
