Setting: A McDonald?s restaurant in Downtown Seattle, April 18, 2002. Asst. Manager: ?Excuse me, are you taking pictures?? Customer: ?Yes. It?s for an art project. Whenever I see a security camera taking an image of me that?s displayed on a monitor, I take a picture of it.? Asst. Manager: ?Well, we?re going to have to ask you to stop.? Customer: ?Oh, why?? Asst. Manager (After a pause): ?Well, it?s against our policy to?.? (Trails off.) Customer: ?But you are taking pictures of me.? Asst. Manager: ?Yes, well that?s for security.? Customer: ?But I am not allowed to take pictures of that myself?? Asst. Manager: ?No, it?s against policy.? Customer: ?Why?? Asst. Manager: ?It just is.? Customer: ?I ordered some food, so I am a customer. I stepped aside, waiting for it my order, not in anyone?s way or interfering here.? Asst. Manager: ?I?m sorry, I?m going to have to ask you to stop taking pictures.? Customer: ?Okay.? Counterperson (to Customer): ?Will you accept an Oatmeal Raisin instead of Chocolate chip? We?re out of Chocolate Chip.?
