I thought a crowd of 100,000 people all eagerly awaiting a Winston Cup race would make a decent B&W, so I fired away. Chicagoland Speedway, July 15, 2001.
Stephen, you evidently captured the anticipation of the crowd. Judging from the way most heads look to their left, I'd say that something very interesting is about to come around that corner. I also like the fact that in essence, you captured the colossal crowd that attended on the day. Your choice of DOF adds to this effect. I like this a lot. Well done :-)
Stephen, I like this pic more the more I look at it. It has a sound quality to it...I can hear the roar of the crowd. What I really like is how you captured the excitement and massiveness of the crowd, but at the same time showed the individual's experience...the anticipation of a few people in the midst of everything. The composition is great. This pic makes me lean in, almost waiting for the cars to come around the curve!
Z, you have an uncanny knack of creating a wider view with that 50mm lens of yours !! I like the way you have used the curve of the stadium and track. Being able to capture the mood of the crowd without showing faces is something great.
