About This is a Buddhist beggar at the entrance to the Nezu Shrine, famous for its Azalea. (You can just see the banks of azaleas beyond the second torii gate.) For all the crowds, he didn't seem to be doing too well.

Dear Roger, I like your entire portofolio as I am more than FAMILIAR with all these images of Japan. I live in Kanagawa. Your subjects are my subjects, too.
I am going to make you a friend so that I can easily come back and look.
Best regards from Gabriela

Hmmm. B&W? I hadn't thought of that. I rather liked the balance between the light spring green of the foliage and the dark laquered look of the Torii and the lamp-post. I'll have to play with it. Thanks for the suggestion. Please spend more time uploading photographs than bothering with mine! You have a real gift that deserves to be shared.

Roger, this image brought a smile - I was in Tokyo rcently and saw many same (look alike girls). Cute shot.
I note in your portfolio you much prefer colour. I wonder how different if different, if this were to be converted into B&W?
Your cherry blossom shots are lovely too.
PS - thank you very much for your kind words on my post. I will find time to post more:)

When I looked at this photograph I first felt the obvious indifference of the public marching by, but then I saw the scene from the Buddhist beggar's point of view and the crowd began to melt into the unending flow of impermanence. The body language of the Buddhist is one of acceptance.

This is a great image. Did they think he was part of the park? It's sad to think we can't spare the time or a bit of money to help the unselfish.
