Hey Pancho. A good idea. I think the bottom of the fence post should remain in focus. I had allready did all the sharpening this shot could take without leaving artifacts. Note the artifacts above the bird on your edit. You are right about the bottom of the frame however, It needs not to be in focus.

Im not sue if this is any better but I thought this picture would be a good candidate for a little lens blur. IMO there is no need to have the lower part of the picture in focus, since it draws attention from the subject (the hay distracted me, from the bid). Applied some gradient masking, levels adjustment and unsharp mask. There is something about the picture that caught my eye. I like the long line and the small bird, somehow draws my eyes to wonder. Good shot!!!
