About This picture was taken during the Hemis Festival ( Ladakh)which usually falls in the second half of June or July. It's not only the largest but most spectacular of the Gompa festivals it is also virtually the only one which takes place in the summer touristic season. The festival takes two days and features elaborate mask dances and crowds of eager spectators.
