"alone and forsaken
by fate and by man
o lord if you hear me
please hold my hand
o please understand

the darkness has fallen
the sky has turned gray
the hound in the distance
is starting to bay
i wonder * i wonder
what she's thinking of
forsaken * forgotten
without any love

alone and forsaken
by fate and by man
o lord if you hear me
please hold my hand
o please understand"

Ok but this is the last, one...This is so moving. I can see why you won an award with this. So real, so sad, almost made me cry. I saw a picture once in National Geographic of a very young boy with tattered and dirty clothing who had tears streaming down his dirty face because he lost his cow, he was obviously working the fields. That one did make me cry because I thought no child should have to know that kind of thing at such a young age, it was such a violation of innocence and childhood. The photographer told the story well with that one picture and you did the same thing here. It evokes strong emotional feelings. I'm going to add you to my friends list because I think I can learn a lot from your work...thank you....Linda

Yesss, this one really IS a BIP, it is a very very emotional picture, the women seems pretty helpless, the choice of b&w is excellent, it makes it all a bit more dramatic. Her face is a little bit lighter than the rest of the picture wich is amazingly well. It makes you focus on her, the main subject, immediatly. Excellent job, 7+ +my compliments!!

Greets,
Lex.

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Excellent photo of a very sad situation, Paul. th way you captured the old woman's face says it all and the choice of B&W accentuates the bleakness she sees har future.

Very powerful and emotional capture, a harsh reminder of life's struggles. The expression that you capture is priceless and so much part of the every day struggle for many in Latin America. I undersand the part about being uncomfortable photographing people in this enviroment or situations, but it's part of life and hopefully these reminders can create some changes. Glad you posted this shot!!! Well done!!! -- Kind reagrds, Rafael

Pat.. thanks for your comment.. I have a hard time photographing strangers, always feel uncomfortable...and with people in her situation it is even that much harder. I did try not to make it obvious that I was taking her photo and debated if I should upload the photo at all...it is hard not to feel strong emotions in these situations.

Powerful Photo Paul! I have often thought of seeking out the homeless and photographing them. It would be a depature from what I normally do. Howerver, I feel too many people look away. Photographs give people the oppertunity to look without feeling as though they are staring. What where you feeling when you took this picture. I noticed you where behind her. Seems like a silly question I know but this is a rather emotional photo and I am curios to know what your emotions where at the time.

7, BTW
