PSCS 16 is 15? Another curveball. No one can see the difference, I'm sure, but that is an interesting fact. How'd you learn that, just out of curiosity. I've yet to read that anywhere. Thanks again for the technological aid. Much appreciated (and needed). Antonia

Excellent (huge!) image Toni... I like the way you arranged these so the colour gets stronger as you rise up the image.... (or weaker as the falls down the image!). This would look terrific as a large image in a recpetion hall for a business or in a large living room... (or better yet in a gallery for all the world to see!). I think it has a vaguely Warhol-ish look to it too (which isn't a bad thing!). Well done and very creative!

Antonia, about 16 bit: your Nikon as well as my Canon DSLR sensors produce RAW / NEF files that contain 12 bit of color information. The converter (for example, PS CS RAW plugin or CaptureOne software) makes 16 bit per channel TIFFs, that is 48 bit files. No information of the original color caught from the sensor is lost then. But if you convert to jpeg (evem lossless) or 8 bit/channel TIF, you lose some information, especially to be seen in the shadows when tweaked or dodged in PS. Interesting, that PS CS 16 bit is actually 15 bit (but nobody can see the difference, of course)

Nice Job Toni, This definitely reminds me of those Warhol Marylin Monroe posters of the sixties. I think James Phillip Pegg had something like this up a little while ago except it was a self portrait. This one is mesmerizing!

For anyone following this thread about 16bit, here is an answer to one of my questions put to Carsten:
RAW (NEF) mode on Nikon cameras produce 12-bit files. Photoshop CS and Elements 3.0 can open the resulting file in either 8-bit or 16-bit.

Thanks Carsten. Yes, I set the D100 to RAW (Casio can only do jpg or TIFF). But is it only possible to get results in 16bit from RAW? The RAW come in as 8bit (I think). Why as you say doesn't it work to go from 8 bit jpg to 16bit, but it does when you go from TIFF or RAW? I should read up I know, but I love picking your brain..; Oh---I'm going to go read my manuals now for sure. Antonia

Wow, really BIG one. Should hang on your wall ;-) And I am guity that you lost hours playing with a RAW file ? Joking aside - very creative work, I like it. The RAW thing was the main reason why I changed from my good old G1 digicam to a 300D. Your D100 can make RAW, too, and I think it is worth the effort (file size, slower speed) because RAW and 16 bit TIFFs are much more forgiving with tonal manipulations in PS. I shoot 100% RAW, just to have the freedom for possible manipulations afterwards. Kudos to those photographers who manage to catch the light just right without need for some PS afterwork

Antonia, these are great and I love what you are doing with it. I wish the colored ones were more spread out with the sepia toned area put here and there. If that makes sense. I still love it and you know its hard for me to be critical...uuugh! It is a wall hanger to me. I can see this hanging in an art gallery.

You have managed to get so many colours and hues. I must admit I often want to do a similar thing with shots sometimes, you get a flower that just begs to be played with, and then you like a colour, but then this and that colour looks great too - how to decide - do this with it!!! Great

Wow! 309 MB?? That's huge!!! I think it would be an excellent idea to print and frame this. I have seen similiar prints in stores.
I like your title, "15 Passions." It reflects so much. One has to be passionate about such an idea to sit down and create a masterpiece such as this. Very creative and nicely composed. Thanks for sharing!!!

Thanks Kel. I must report that it is my first time using RAW and the camera did slow down to record the image. There were times I was pushing and pushing the button and had to wait wait wait. It would definitely have been a problem chasing the kids on portraits...lol. But this is the Nikon D100, and I'd love to know how the Canon D20 does with this, as that is my heart's desire (or is that 20D? I can't ever remember) Antonia

Thanks Arwa, I made this really really big. It measures around 9,000 x 11,000 pixels and is 309 MB (365MB working). It took me a few hours. I was having so much fun playing with hues on it in 16bit that I couldn't quit! I'm thinking of blowing it up to frame as it is 30"x40" at 300 dpi. My biggest ever. Antonia
