Cropping and perspective give it a wide angle look, although it was taken with a 6x6 square camera, and shallow DOF puts the focus on the subject. Taken yesterday with my old Rolleiflex. The square format is very flexible.
You are talking to the converted, here, Ed. Some of the best photos I ever took were with an old Minolta Autocord TLR and its replacement, a Mamiya C330, perhaps because my kids were still young then. Seeing your beautiful portfolio has just decided me to go back to medium format. I'd been debating whether to get a MF SLR or the latest DSLR. MF wins! I long ago disposed of my wet darkroom stuff, so I'll have to see how close I can get to your beautiful prints with a digital darkroom. I probably won't make it, but it will be fun trying! Thanks for the inspiration.
