Thanks Cheri. Keep your aperture as closed as possible to allow clarity of the colours and sprays. Your shutter depends on how close you are and how bright the night is. I ranged between 2 and 4 secs for my images. But I was pretty close to them and there was a lot of light nearby.

AWESOME!!! Whoo-hoo! Great shot. I would love to get one this nice of fireworks!! Maybe I will be able to capture something on the 4th of July as I will be home finally. Do you have any tips for me shutter speed and f/stop wise?

Now that is where they tricked me. I had the impression they were going to be setting them off over the water. I got such a surprise when they started going off about 50 metres from me, on the shoreline. WAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!

Had few questions, then read commentary and saw most answers...except one.About how far away were you from where they were set off?
