Enjoy I do! It has a nostalgic air (no pun intended, really) of old postcards about it. Very special contrast between the still bright light on the plane and the darkening skies. Thanks a lot for your comment on the "night mosaic", Andree /Hansi

Hi Andree, the trip was 12 years agoo. Bought my first camera in october 2004. However i did lend a camera but it was a no good camera and or i was a no good photographer. Either way they only please me as a personal memory. btw i googled and airliners.net has quite a lot of good saba photo's also confirmes my words about the lenght of the runway.

I cannot argue this point for I have never heard that St. Barth had the shortest landing strip. I only heard that it is unusual (and personally have experienced of course) that a plane when the wind is blowing from the North (which is not the case in this shot) has to clear a high pick on the Island and literally dive to land on the short runway. Love to see photos, if you have of Saba. Your friend, Andree

Yep those planes are fun, i've been in one when i viseted Saba some time agoo. Same landings technique there only the one in Saba is a bit shorter they told me it was offivcially the shortest (official) landingsstrip in the world.

Thanks Andre - I know you didn't mean anything by it and I find it humorous myself. I know a lot of the fear is from being so controlling (and not having control). I usually get some dramamine and it soothes the nerves. Only a 5 hour flight so should be ok. Better than the 11 hour flight to Amsterdam... :) Your friend, Cheryl

Oh! Cheryl I wouldn't not have told you that story had I known that you are about to fly. My husband also gets very nervous. It usually takes 1/2 a valium and it seems to really help me relax without side effects. Maybe you could try. Hope it's OK to mention valium. Your friend, Andree

More than you'd know. I am terrified of flying and we leave for vacation (on a plane) in a few days. I'm better knowing my family is with me - I feel so safe with my husband. I don't know when I started being affraid - I was fine as a young adult. Maybe some counsling would do me some good... :) Thanks for that incredible side story - I love to hear the stories.

Andree, interesting story, and composition. I like the intrugingly dark sky and clouds - makes one wonder if bad weather is on its way.

Hello Cheryl: Thank you for your comment. You are right to be nervous. Everyone always applaud when we make the landing. I personally like the excitement, but most people just want to get down and be safe. Although not advitized, it has been some fatal crashes over time, one a couple of years ago that killed everyone on board and everyone in the house the plane crashed in. The pilot made an illegal maneuver (he cuts the engine off to slow down for the landing before he clear the top of the mountain, a fatal error) and was not certified in the special training needed to land this type of plane. Thought you like to know a little more about it. Nervous still.........Your friend, Andree
