Wow, Shannon you almost made me cry when I read your amazing comment. As I am just starting out in photography your comment is a HUGE boost for my self esteem. I took this up at Barrington Tops NP and I too loved the serenity of it. To have a photograph published would be awesome...not sure how you go about it though?

I love this picture. The composition is amazing. I could see this shot in an outdoors magazine or something. I love the textures and the calm feeling the picture gives me. It's amazing. If you don't mind me asking, where was this taken?

That's what I mean!!! Even when taking the original photo I looked at it in portrait and it didn't look right. Thanks again Jon.

I did the same when I got Rogers comment and thought that the overall effect of the darkness of the trees leading into the light was lost. I am glad you agreed! Thank You, Jon.

I did a bit of playing as per your suggestion, and I think that cropped to portrait the pool-of-light- within-shadow effect is diminshed.
Cheers,
Jon

No we didn't see one lyre bird. We were up there last Monday and it was cold and rained on and off, so I bet they were doing the sensible thing and stayed undercover. It wasn't too bad though and just nice to get out of the house!

Great idea and nice light and use of it Amanda..just wonder if it had been vertical (portrait) might it have had a bit more clout. But it is a lovely pool of light there in that picnic area for sure.. you were lucky to get it without any cars there. Did you see any Lyre birds while u were there? there's usually heaps running round under those pines
