Thanks Kat - yes, I used fill flash (a little harsher than I initially wanted 1:4), the background was darker because of this and I kinda liked it so I exaggerated the contrast some more, between the fore and backgrounds, post exposure.

well captured amanda! Did you use a flash? I like the difference in lighting between the foreground and background. The effect is really cool.

And you have created such a lovely image! Innocence comes with this child. Learning stuff is what this kid is up to. And you did focused on the hand, that makes it more interesting just like what title says.
I also love the tone of this image. Perfect!
