This bird is one of many kept in aviaries at a holiday resort in Ashmore, on the Gold Coast, Queensland. It was a difficult shot as I had to shoot upwards through small wire cage mesh in low light. The background was all wire mesh and timber beams, very unattractive, but with the help of Photoshop I managed to replace that with one of rainforest which I had taken earlier on my beloved Mt. Tamborine. It's definitely not perfect but considering the conditions and my inexperience with Photoshop I'm quite pleased with the result.

Thank you, Margaret, for your encouraging comments on my pics. You're right, I could have lightened the Macaw a bit more. It was pretty dark to start with, but I didn't think to try lightening the whole pic after I had merged both layers. I learn a little bit more each time. Cheers, Ann.
Am back at home at my computer after several business trips. Unfortunately did not have the time to take any pictures, but at least I can catch up on your work. This shot is nicely taken and you have done a great job on the background.
