They allow you to take photos as you normally do.
I always work in manual, i measure exposure by using AE Lock, and i use manual focus, but any other mode is possible, including Autofocus! The tubes are advantageous as you practically don't loose any light. But mind that the DOF gets very shallow, and autofocus will be very difficult.

does the Canon extension tubes allow auto metering and focus ? or do you have to go to manual..

Excellent composed macro! The composition isremarkable, I like how you divided your frame with sharper part of the subject in the bottom corner and the rest of the flower petals elegantly fading towards the other three corners. -- Cheers, Rafael
