Hi Patryk, Thanx a lot for your comment and excellent analysis. You got it right, I captured it from a boat in the Nile, and these blinds belong to the boat. I just wanted to show the new modern Egypt in the bridge, buildings and signs with little old Egypt in the sailboat and to try to give the sense of the crowdness that you could face when you visit Egypt.... As I always wanted in my portfolio that Egypt is not as most of people think Pyramids, sand, Camels, and sun) :0) Thanx again my friend, Khaled.

Khaled, This is quite 'experimental' in composition and I think it works nicely. Because I know Cairo, it kind of recreates the claustrophobic 'zahma' feeling, but at the same time shows everything that is charming and delightful about Cairo. Tells a good story! Regards Omar

Hey, nicely done shot..i love the composition. You titled this shot as 'Come to Egypt', and by looking closely at the shot i can figure out why. At first glance, the shot didn't seem to tie in with the title. However, after awhile i notice that the grills or blinds play a big part in the title of this shot, as they hide part of the scenery, giving a sense of mystery, as if you were on a boat on the river peeking out, urging you to actually visit Egypt to experience it yourself...If the blinds weren't there, many would have just passed this same shot as a normal dull landscape which wouldn't really associate with Egypt (no sign of pyramids, sphinx, sand dunes, you know, the stereotype landscape shots of Egypt =P). So the blinds really play a big part...
Furthermore, the juxtaposition of an acient form of transportation for the egyptians with modern infrastructure like the bridge and the buildings with the ad signs on them tells me that Egypt, although rooted deeply in its own history (the boat) is at the same time progressed with the present... (in my opinion anyways..=p)
This shot told me more about present day Egypt than any picture of pyramids, or any stereotypical shot of what Egypt is. Excellently framed, although the composition could have been improved (even if you did't really mean for it to turn out this way =p)... gives new meaning to "a picture speaks a thousand words"....

Nice shot, well done with the object in front, giving it a claustrophobic aspect, stressing the bussiness of the city maybe, and being hard to get out of it. So in that concept maybe a good choice for shooting vertical (at least i think so...) Well done!

Very dramatic image. When I think of Egypt, I think of pyramids, sand and camels. This image shows there is more to see than those things.

A different and fun way to see the city, nicely done, I like the concept alot. I just feel that if you had turned the camera horizontally, taking it the same way, just opening the picture more giving the boat space and more feel of the river flow. (in my opinion only) Alison

Hi Kareem, In Egypt they usually give the sailboats names and write it on it's body, here, it's "Al-Arabi", i.e., The Arabian, and of course written in Arabic. Thanx my friend, Khaled.
